Walking My Brains Off!

Well, I have initiated a new walking program in the interests of better health and appearance.
Got myself a fancy pedometer. The manual says the goal is 10,000 steps a day. So, I went to the indoor track and measured that out. I walked slightly over 4 1/2 miles.
Felt OK. Once I got past about 2 miles, it all felt pretty good.
Then, of course, I will do my normal moving around for the day, but I just wanted to see how 10,000 steps really felt and what the distance was for me.
MSW is having gall bladder problems again and will likely have surgery soon.
Baby kitty is a real live wire. Took an accidental swim in the sump pump a couple of days ago. We are lucky that she is still here!
Beautiful, sunny day.

Of birthdays and cats

Thanks to all who had a nice word for me over at Dalian Moon's spot.
It was a great birthday.
I had lunch with MSW, her kids and my younger daughter.
Visited with my friend at the nursing home.
Then MSW and I went to see "The Lake House." It doesn't make a bit of sense, but it is a very well done romantic movie. Just forget about logic!
Thai food for dinner, the wandered around Home Depot.

Now to the cats.
MSW and I have had 2 cats here for a couple of years. First hers - a little girl about 6 or 7, Abby. Then Lina, Juliet's cat came when it was no longer practical for her to handle a newborn and an older cat.
As you may know, Lina passed away suddenly almost 2 months ago.
At first, we were not going to get another cat, but Abby was sooo depressed that we decided to get a kitten that Abby could mother and play with. That was about 3 weeks ago.
So, anyway, that has been going pretty well. Lots of playing and chasing.
Well, today, I came home to find the little one (Maddy) "nusing" on Abby! It went on at least a half hour. Quite intense. Abby seemed extremely content. We are not sure yet if she is lactating or if she will with this continued stimulation. I've read this kind of stuff in the newpaper and all, but had never seen a non-mother do it first hand. Maddy is about 13 weeks old now
So, there you are Juliet. I have posted in my blog!!

It's 12:15 A.M. and everyone is still here!

What a crazy week!!!!!!
My buddy and her co workers have been working very hard to get a new funding proposal into a state agency by tomorrow.
I have been called into help with some aspects of it.
It is very daunting to me.
I have never had an actual career other than being a "do-gooder." I find that what I am doing is quite challenging, yet, I am so far pleased that things have gone so well.
I hope that the weekend is quiet.
